A recent report by AliExpress, the ‘Consumer Insights Report’, highlights that marketplaces continue to be the preferred option for more than 71% of consumers in Spain. In particular, 78.4% of respondents have shopped on AliExpress, and 48.85% do so on a regular basis.
The most popular categories are clothing and footwear (84%), beauty and health (79%), food and beverage (78%), and sports and entertainment (73%). The 35-45 age group spends the most, with an average of 595 euros per quarter.
Online commerce has facilitated the practice of sports, with 73% of respondents stating that the accessibility of online shopping has improved their ability to participate in sporting activities. In addition, major sporting events have motivated 71.6% of consumers to explore new sporting disciplines.
In regional terms, Cantabria (15%), Extremadura (11.5%) and Galicia (11%) lead in the number of online purchases, exceeding the national average of ten items purchased in the last three months.
Although 99% of respondents have shopped online recently, 91% have also shopped in physical stores, demonstrating the complementarity between the two sales channels.
This trend shows how Spanish consumers are increasingly integrating e-commerce into their shopping habits, highlighting the influence of AliExpress in the market.
